Pearl the Hurricanes Fan!

Sherryn, Pearl and Graham all ready to go....

At last year's "Young and the Rest of Us" Family Group planning day, Pearl Hadfield indicated that she thought it would be fun to go to a big rugby game all decked out in face paint and dress up garb.

While it didn't happen in 2008, the group did manage to fulfil Pearl's dream in 2009 when at the age of 92 Pearl and her family group went tothe Hurricanes versus the Stormers match at Westpac Stadium in Wellington. The family group met at the church for face painting and dressing up prior to the 5.30pm kick off. Stadium officials had been helpfulin ensuring a car park and lift access to seating was available.

The Hurricanes won the game. There were 18 family group members who gathered for a meal afterwards where Pearl revealed that she had previouslydone a painting of Tana Umaga scoring a try at the Stadium. Pearl also had a soft toy Tana whom she presented to the event organiser, Graham Cochrane as a memento of a great night.
