PLEASE NOTE:
The Parish Administrator, Lalene Roberts, will be on annual leave from Mon 9 June returning to the office on Monday 16 June.  If you have any parish queries, notices, etc. please leave a message on the church office answerphone (478-3396).  Messages will be cleared regularly and responded to (Tuesday – Friday) next week.

 

PARISH WORKSHOP:
We invite all interested members of the parish to a ‘Workshop’ next Sunday, 15 June 2008 after the morning service – 11.30 am – 1.30 pm.
A pizza lunch will be organised.  As part of the process of selling the Newlands Manse, we must consider our mission, outreach and how we will use the money from the sale of the Manse.  Come and join the Parish Council and share your ideas.

 

HELP NEEDED:
From time to time at JUC, we need a team of members to set up the chairs in the Main Hall during the week/day, such as when there is a funeral.  We arecompiling a list of members who would be available to help with this.  Please pass your name on to me.      

 

VANUATU FUNDRAISING:
Another great ‘Fundraiser for Vanuatu’is coming up!  Please diary this date  - THURSDAY, 24 JULY 2008 from 7.00 pm for a 7.30 pm start.
JUC have booked out the Khandallah Arts Theatre on this evening to give you the opportunity of attending their current production -
 ‘THE MIRACLE WORKER’  by William Gibson.  This is the powerful story of the life of Helen Keller and promises to be a superb evening out in the well-known tradition of the Khandallah Arts Theatre.  Tickets $20.00.    Enquiries to –

 

REVIEW OF SUPPLY APPOINTMENT OF REV. ANNA GILKISON
TO JOHNSONVILLE UNITING CHURCH
At the time that the supply appointment was made of Rev. Anna Gilkison to JUC, it was agreed that a review would be held to determine whether this will become the stationed appointment from February 2009.
 The Methodist Synod is responsible for ensuring the review takes place, and has asked Rev. Dr. Lynne Frith to facilitate it.  The review team will include representatives from both the Presbytery and JRC.
 For the purposes of the review, a special meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Wednesday, 2 July 2008 at 7 pm in the Committee Room.  The first part of the meeting, from 7 pm – 8 pm is open to anyone from the parish who wishes to attend and comment on whether or not the supply appointment should become the stationed (permanent) appointment. 
From 8 pm the Parish Council will meet alone, with the review team, to determine what recommendations will be brought to a congregational meeting.
 A special congregational meeting to receive and consider a report from Parish Council will be held following the 10 am service on Sunday,
6 July 2008.
